Dog Obedience

There are many factors that make the OC Dog Ranch special.

Our five acre “facility” is less of a facility, and more of a camp, located just east of San Juan Capistrano in the Cleveland National Forest. Here, dogs enjoy plenty of room to play, train, and perfect their obedience skills.

Dogs love trees, grass, and even dirt. So why send them to a concrete kennel for training? Just because they are here to learn doesn’t mean they should be in a overcrowded building. They should romp, wrestle, and roll in a fresh outdoor environment. Our ranch is a dog heaven and your dog’s enjoyment is our number one goal.

In addition to having a spacious, natural setting for our programs, we also boast one of the quickest off leash programs available. Why send your dog for 4-8 weeks somewhere else when you can transform your dog in one of our 12, 17, or 22 day programs? If you hesitate to send your dog away for training because you are worried about being away from your beloved pet, our beautiful facility and accelerated off leash programs may be exactly what you are looking for! Email or call us to talk to a staff member about how our program can help eliminate problem behaviors and get your dog on the path to full off leash obedience training.

OC Dog Ranch Mission

Our Outlook

The primary goal of OC Dog ranch is to produce a companion animal that bonds with and respects it’s owner. It is important to the OC Dog Ranch, that through working with your family, you will be able to better understand your dog’s behavior. We achieve this by recognizing that your dog is a living creature capable of making it’s own choices.

Instruction

Our job is to educate your dog. We begin by teaching your dog what a command is by reinforcing good decisions. Our trainers work with verbal commands and hand signals to teach decision making without relying on a leash.  Although we are not opposed to giving a treat for reward, we do not feel a dog should be bribed to listen to you. Like any relationship in your life, respect is important. Your dog must not only love you, but respect you as well. Remember, he is a pack animal and needs to learn to follow the rules of the leader. And that’s you.

Care & Love

We do not believe in working aggressively with an animal. We believe in discipline. Just as you would discipline a child to prepare them for adulthood, do so with your dog also. You would not hit your child to make a point, nor should you strike your dog. However, you would expect your child to live by certain rules and the same goes for your dog. Remember, obedience is a tool. One that can solve any problem, and could save your dog’s life.
