    Wasp Repellant that WORKS!

    By Dana McMahan | Dog Health, dog training | 0 comment | 17 August, 2019 | 2

Summer is the season for bees/wasp to be out in full force. If you’re dealing with these stingy-pests, we’d like to share a few things we have been using at the OC Dog Ranch to help control wasps.

    ESSENTIAL OILS TO THE RESCUE

Ive always been a bit on the fence about essential oils but this mixture has been working miracles. We have mixed 10-15 drops of Lemongrass, Thyme and Peppermint with water and not only is it effective at repelling wasp, it also seems to keep down gnats and flies. We spray high traffic areas and have seen a huge reduction in our wasp population.

    WASP DECOY NESTS

I’m pretty much Captain skeptical on all things “all natural” but these wasp decoy nests were very affordable and had super reviews on Amazon. I’m glad we gave them a try as they seem to have really improved how many wasp we have in our area. The idea is to hang them where there are no other nest and since wasp are territorial it will drive them out of the area. We have ordered the ones from “Mood Lab” but there are several varieties available online.

    RESCUE WHY WASP TRAPS

These. Things. WORK. They are reusable and easy to bait either with their pre-made bait mixture or with any piece of meat. We line these on the outskirts of the property and they are very successful at catching wasps before they invade our space. And the best part is no harsh chemicals!

Remember if your dog is stung by a bee or wasp, have benedryl on hand to treat the sting immediately. Remember the dosing for Benedryl is 1 mg per pound of body weight so a 25 mg tablet is appropriate for a 25 lb dog.
